About OLAMIOSA

The miracle of this happenstance began like sometime in the middle of June 2018, when Rev. Valentina Titilayo Solarin, a former student of our alma mater, Our Lady of Apostles Secondary Grammar School, Maryway. Odo Ona, Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria (O.L.A./the School) received a prompting from the Lord to start a WhatsApp group which will connect the former students of the School.
This became a Nehemiah assignment to salvage our dear alma mater from its then deplorable state and visible imminent collapse as a quality citadel of learning.
The visioner, Rev. Mrs Titilayo Solarin, went in pursuit of as many former students of O.L.A and connected with as many of them as possible, regardless of location. Many of the alumnae she approached were enthusiastic about the mission, and they embraced the task of getting more alumnae onboard.
With zeal and commitment, the alumnae who had by then formed a pressure group engaged the services of a quantity surveyor to assess the situation of the school and identify what needs to be done to restore it to its former condition. The report of this team catalysed a major move by the alumnae to revamp the decaying infrastructures within the School’s compound and their mantra was ‘ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country’ …..( culled from the speech of the Visioner and First National President).
In order to institutionalize the organisation, the name ‘Our Lady of Apostles Secondary Grammar School Maryway, Ibadan Old Students Association’ (OLAMIOSA/Association) and subsequently registered under Part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2005 at the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja on 21st day of January, 2021.
Whilst the National Convention remains the highest decision-making organ of the Association, the next leadership level is the Board of Trustees.
The inaugural members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) were: Chief (Mrs) Francisca Taiwo as Chairman; Chief (Mrs) Abimbola Alabi, Late Hon. Justice Grace Onyeabo, Mrs Dayo Keshi*, Mrs Folasade Ajayi and Mrs Toyin Phillips, founder and proprietor of Vine Crest College, Iperu- Remo, Ogun State, who acts as the Secretary to the BOT.

The operational arm of the Association is the National Executive Committee (NEC) headed by the National President and the NEC members are organised under 6 Clusters, namely: Membership Cluster. The visioner was the first National President Rev. Mrs Valentina Titilayo Solarin, a position she held for 4 (four years) and she was also invited to the BOT, and was an active member until she retired when she reached the landmark age of 70 years. In 2022, she handed over as National President, to another great and passionate leader, Mrs ‘Funmi Roberts, a legal practitioner, who is currently the National President.

OLAMIOSA Anthem

1. We danced in the morning on assembly grounds
We danced during mass, and in the refectory
We had social evenings and we danced some more
After some great years, we danced out in grace

Chorus
Dance then, OLAMIOSA Queens
We have the Lord of the dance with us
And He’ll lead us all, wherever we may be
And He’ll lead us all in the dance He will.

2. It’s been so many years since we left Maryway
We’ve seen the good, the bad, and the wonderful
We are living, we are conquering with our dance still on.
We forge on still in our bond of love.
